What to Expect at Your Initial Appointment

Your first visit typically includes several important evaluations to help us understand your oral health and create a personalized treatment plan. We will begin by taking dental X-rays and reviewing your medical history. A comprehensive dental examination will follow, during which we document any existing conditions, assess your gum health with periodontal charting, and perform an oral cancer screening. In most cases, a routine teeth cleaning will also be completed at this visit. At the end of your appointment, we will discuss any recommended treatment for dental restorations or other needs. If signs of periodontal (gum) disease are present, we may need to schedule a separate appointment to begin the appropriate periodontal therapy.

Problem-Focused (Emergency) Appointments

If you are visiting for a specific dental concern, we will take the necessary X-rays and evaluate the area of concern. Based on our findings, we will determine whether treatment can begin the same day, whether a pre-authorization is needed from your dental insurance, or whether a referral to a specialist is the most appropriate next step.
