What is the difference between Botox and Xeomin?
Both Botox and Xeomin are neurotoxin injectables. Xeomin, which was approved by the FDA for cosmetic use in 2011, is a more purified form of Botox. Xeomin is made from incobotulinumtoxin A, it is double filtered and touts itself as not having any unnecessary ingredients. Botox is made from onabotulinumtoxin A, it has been widely used since the early 2000s. While The main distinction lies in their composition, both work similarly by temporarily reducing muscle activity to smooth wrinkles.

What can Botox and Xeomin Do for you?
Botox and Xeomin are approved by the FDA to be used for cosmetic purposes to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face such as crow’s feet, forehead lines, frown lines, and lip lines.
They can also be used therapeutically, off label, to help with pain in the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ), clenching and grinding of teeth, and tension headaches. The specific muscles targeted often include the masseter muscles, which are jaw muscles, the temporalis muscles located on the sides of the head and the frontalis or forehead muscle. Injecting Botox or Xeomin into these muscles can help relax them, reducing tension and alleviating symptoms associated with teeth clenching, grinding and tension headaches.
