Digital Imaging

Dr. Travis chooses carefully which and when radiographs are taken. There are many guidelines that we follow. Radiographs allow us to see everything we cannot see with our own eyes. Radiographs enable us to detect cavities in between your teeth, determine bone level, see whether there is any tarter or calculus on your roots below the gum level and analyze the health of your bone. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, as well as assess damage when trauma occurs.

Dental radiographs are invaluable aids in diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health. Exposure time for dental radiographs is extremely minimal. Dr. Travis utilizes Digital Imaging Technologies within the office. With digital imaging, exposure time is about 50 percent less when compared to traditional radiographs. Digital imaging can also help us retrieve valuable diagnostic information.

  • Digital imaging allows us to store patient images and enables us to quickly and easily transfer them to specialists or insurance companies.

  • Digital X-rays offer more precision since we view the image on a computer monitor where we can enlarge it, zoom in, adjust contrast, and sharpen details.

  • Digital X-rays require significantly less radiation than film, making them safer for patients.

  • We can show digital X-rays on a screen while pointing out areas of concern which helps patients see what we see, making treatment recommendations easier to understand.

  • No chemicals or processing solutions are needed, reducing waste.

Diagnodent Laser

Our office uses the cutting edge Diagnadent Dental Caries (Decay) Detection to help detect tooth decay in its earliest stages. This technology utilizes laser fluroescence technology to identify decay that may not be visible on X-rays or during a traditional exam, especially in the tiny grooves and pits on the chewing surfaces of teeth.

The Diagonal Dent Laser works by shining a safe, painless light onto the tooth. Healthy tooth structure reflects the light in a specific way, while areas with early decay scatter the light differently. The device measures this response and provides a numerical reading that helps us determine whether a tooth is healthy, at risk, or in need of treatment.

Because the laser is non-invasive and does not use radiation, it is an excellent tool for monitoring areas over time and catching problems before they become larger—and more costly—issues. This helps us provide more accurate diagnoses and ensure that you receive the most conservative and effective care possible.

Intraoral Camera

An intraoral camera is a small, high-resolution device that allows us to take detailed images of your teeth and gums during your examination. This technology offers several important benefits for both diagnosis and patient understanding. It enables us to identify conditions such as cracks, decay, worn fillings, and gum issues with greater accuracy, often catching problems that may be difficult to see with the naked eye alone.

One of the biggest advantages is improved communication. Because the images are displayed on a screen, you can see exactly what we see which helps you better understand your oral health and any recommended treatments. The camera also allows us to document changes over time, monitor areas of concern, and provide clear visuals for insurance submissions when needed.

Overall, an intraoral camera enhances transparency, accuracy, and comfort, making your dental visit more informative and empowering.

Digital Scanner

A digital scanner is an advanced imaging device that creates highly accurate, 3D digital models of your teeth and gums. Instead of using traditional impression materials the scanner uses a small wand that is gently moved around your mouth to capture thousands of images. These images are then combined to form a precise digital representation of your smile.

Digital scanners are extremely useful in modern dentistry because they provide exceptional accuracy for a wide range of treatments, including crowns, bridges, veneers, implants, partial dentures, dentures, clear aligners, and night guards. The detailed models help ensure better-fitting restorations and more predictable treatment outcomes.

Overall, digital scanning enhances accuracy, comfort, efficiency, and communication, making your dental experience smoother and more effective.
